The Iconic Puzzle Game Didn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type Might Solve This

Each time a significant honors show approaches, you'll find an outcry to include of new categories to honor underappreciated efforts and satisfy the spirits of followers with niche passions.

A fellow writer previously argued for a horror game category. That would be fantastic. Equally deserving are strategy board titles, representing a dedicated supporter's campaign. But they will have to forgive me when I prioritize since similar to dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification for why my demand remains most pressing and significant. This is the request: It's essential to create a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Classifying creative works defies precise measurement; it’s very subjective, and it will always spark debates resulting in unclear classifications. It's understandable that film award organizations don’t do it. However, it represents a necessary evil for the industry of interactive entertainment, showing incredible range they hardly constitute one unified medium.

For the full spectrum of achievement in video games to be recognized, while allowing diverse titles to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Current Gaming Award Categories

Prominent interactive entertainment events currently feature classifications covering Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Fighting, Simulation and strategy titles, and Sports/Racing games. Together, these classifications successfully include numerous genres, allowing placement accommodating various experiences.

This doesn't apply to brain-teasing titles. There’s simply nowhere for their placement. Think about these this year’s best games, all very different: building puzzles of one title, the pulse-pounding block-matching from another release, thought-provoking social scenarios in another game. What category would fit them within current classifications? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Acknowledgment Issues

Numerous examples exist outstanding logic titles launched regularly without proper recognition during gaming ceremonies, unless they happen to qualify for categories like Handheld titles, VR/AR Game, and the highly challenging independent game categories.

  • An iconic brain-teaser wasn’t nominated for anything that year
  • A different innovative game received no nominations during that ceremony
  • A beloved organization game got ignored that year
  • Limited numbers of logic titles barely qualified for independent or mobile categories

Significance of Puzzle Games

These are often small games, but the art of the puzzle game is of massive significance. Famous handheld logic titles stand as most popular titles worldwide maintaining this status for many years.

The famous puzzle experience challenges well-known building titles for the title of most purchased experience; it’s also in the running for best game of all time. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks to the art of video games, and engaging with diverse game types.

The Solution and Justification

Puzzle games wouldn’t have this problem. You could fill multiple candidates engaging, different, qualified experiences every year with ease — perhaps, with difficulty, given the need to exclude many worthy titles.

And to reiterate, these represent titles lacking appropriate categories at major gaming awards. Logic title developers are working at the demanding boundary interactive creation, developing some of essential manifestations of gaming itself. Comparable to cinema stunt performers, they warrant appreciation. We shouldn't delay decades.
